Construction of the new roundabout at Gellatly-Carrington Roads is almost complete and the intersection is set to re-open permanently to motorists today at approximately 6 p.m. Final landscaping work will continue over the next several weeks with minimal impacts to traffic. The $1.32 million Gellatly-Carrington Roundabout Project also includes a three-metre-wide, paved multi-use path between Witt and Boucherie Roads, which is scheduled for completion in September. This path will create a key connection between Westbank Centre and the waterfront, and includes minor in-stream storm work improvements to Smith Creek.
The Canadian Chamber's President and Chief Executive Officer, Perrin Beatty, issued the following statement on the recent new border measures for fully vaccinated travelers: “As Canada moves from recovery into growth, having workable border measures for fully vaccinated travellers is critical for Canadian businesses. While many questions remain about how this partial reopening will work, we welcome last week's announcement as a positive step towards making safe international mobility a reality.”
