The Greater Westside Board of Trade is extremely pleased to release a customized regional Recovery Guide for the Thompson Okanagan. This guide has been in the works for months and has involved both our team and business leaders in the central Okanagan. In partnership with the provincial government’s Sector Labour Market Partnership Program (SLMP) and funded by the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training, the Resource Guides are designed to house a broad mix of region-specific resources in one spot for easy reference and to support businesses in this region as they navigate the challenging road to recovery. The seven regional Resource Guides will be updated throughout BC’s Restart Plan. Download the guide https://files.constantcontact.com/9cc1ffab001/3e71cbde-2b6e-48d2-a658-389d1a4fbce7.pdf
Did You Know? The Okanagan Indigenous Music and Arts Society was born from the desire to produce an all-Indigenous music and arts festival that showcases the beauty and diversity of Indigenous culture. In an era of Reconciliation we were overcome with a sense of purpose to add celebration to the vernacular surrounding Indigenous Heritage. We saw an opportunity to lift up our Indigenous Artists in a culturally safe and supportive environment that fosters their talent and exalts their crafts. We are so humbled by the support we have received from our community for the inaugural Okanagan Indigenous Music and Arts Festival and are very excited about things to come!

Tourism is a key contributor to Canada’s economy. It’s a sector that has been hit hard by COVID-19. Many businesses have been closed for months, their employees (including many summer students) out of work, which has affected many families and communities across Canada. According to Statistics Canada, the tourism sector generated an estimated $104.4 billion in revenues in 2019, supported approximately one in 10 jobs in communities across Canada and contributed an estimated $45.1 billion in gross domestic product. The Canadian Chamber recently hosted a webinar with panelists representing various tourism and hospitality sectors. Listening to the webinar will give you new insights into the challenges the industry faces over the coming months. Listen now https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4Ydr-eECJw
